And The Beat Goes ON...

Holy God, go to ANY article today, yesterday, whatever, and check out the topvoted comments! They are STILL talking about what a douche Cheese, (and Wong), were. XD By God, we HAVE started something, they even mention this blog! I picked an article at random and there they were. And people are going back to The Article to find out what happened! This isn't going away, lol!

  1. I personally am going to take a break tonight, see if the illegal copy of Skyrim I torrented works, (hey, I already bought it once, they got their money, lol), and start watching some of the 48gigs worth of Babylon 5 I also torrented. COMPLETE, yeah! Tomorrow, I'll post "An Alcoholic's Perspective On The Great Cheese-Melt". Get it? OH NOES! A PUN!

  3. So FYI - Blogs are supposed to be done by writers. What I mean is that "lol" and emoticons aren't really... good...

Also - "illegal copy of Skyrim I torrented" isn't exactly... a good thing to write...

    1. And you assume part of me cares in some fashion. I've had three books published, (still selling on Amazon quite well), so I guess I'm considered a writer. Google "in the vernacular" and get back to me, 'kay? True, it wasn't illegal. Study the law. You can download anything and it isn't illegal until you make copies and sell them, I was making a joke.

    2. Btw, next time, try addressing the topic instead of criticizing the writing, thanks.

    1. Woah O.o ! This is completely surreal: there are far too many times when I have to remind myself that this isn't about what happened this time around, but about something that happened a year and a half ago, and about another thing that happened in 2009. (So it's like there is a cycle to this?) Thanks Anon for bringing this to our attention! Do you know if we'd be allowed to link to it on Reddit, and/or make screencaps of particularly relevant posts?

Ono and the others: seriously, check this thing out. Read attentively: someone got banned from the Cracked forums for making a derisive comment about a Cracked article/writer (I'll let you guess which one) on a non-Cracked-related Facebook page. Yup, you read that right.

I swear, this whole thing is getting crazier by the day :D !

    2. Just one of many, many eerie things said in that link:

"I got demodded for speaking up when David Wong was banning posters who hadn't broken any rules, deleting all of their posts, and then misrepresenting what they had posted in order to justify his actions."

      ... I have no words.

  5. Err, I'm a different anon...I guess I'm not those other anons. I have to say that I'm following this battle and trying to fight the good fight, but good god if it weren't for openid I'd be signed up for like a gazillion social sites following this debacle. Take your night off to watch pirated movies, cool with me, but please don't make any of us lurkers signup for more stuff please?

    2. Here, you can choose "Name/URL" in the posting option and choose a name for yourself without having to sign up to anything. Basically one step up from Anon.

And yeah, sorry for being all over the place, but it's not like this is something we planned in advance :/ For now we're trying to cross-post as much as we can, but it's going to take some time to establish a stable structure. As Mickey says, please bear with us, okay?

And thanks for the support :) !

  6. I posted a Cheese quote in Gladstone's new article. The one about the comments section only existing to keep idiots away from everyone else. I didn't even say it was a Cheese quote. I attributed the quote to "he who shall not be named." I was deleted and banned from the forum. Underneath where it says I was banned I got a message saying "thanks for proving my point." I am not happy about this.

    1. Sorry :( And welcome to the club, I guess?

Posting anything in the forums that alludes even ever so slightly to this mess is pretty much guaranteed to result in a ban. Be glad they didn't delete your entire account like they did for many of us.

    2. I didn't post in the forums at all though. It was a reply to darkstrolm on an article. I have never posted in the forums.

Of course the people defending Cheese did not have posts deleted.

    3. Yeah, apparently they are still on high alert, though it's not quite clear which comments trigger a deletion/ban and which don't. I'm sorry they got you :(

And so when you say you're banned "from the forum", you actually mean you're banned from posting in the comments section? I've been banned three times, I know it sucks >.< You should be able to make another account, though you might have to use another email address. Good luck!

    4. Stupidly enough they didn't delete my comment underneath the quote. The comment underneath directly criticizes Cheese by name. Weird.

NO I mean I am banned from the forum. Not comments. When I click the forum, it's says I'm banned.

    5. Yeah, as I said, I don't really understand what their rules are as to what gets or doesn't get deleted.

Ah yes, banned from the forums. That's the first level of punishment. Pretty much all of us here are banned, because even with a new account, the forum ban still holds.

Doesn't stop us from following what's happening on the forums anyway, of course :P We just can't participate, but then, why would we want to do that :D ?

    6. They are on alert for forum quotes on the comments. I have no idea why, since the forums is (supposedly?) public. Well, censorship continues...

    7. Weird...

In any case, Egagelop, a huge thank you for prompting me to go and check on that article! Gladstone, oh Gladstone, this was EPIC :D !

  7. Nothing is going to happen but rabble in the comments section. A section that, by definition, is a place for people to post their opinions. The problem is not you or your dislike of an article; the problem is that people are fucking crazy, making death threats and posting his address, and it's shit like this blog that goads them on, making them feel like they're doing "the right thing".

So we're all ignoring you, specifically the comments section. For the most part we always have. We're just watching out for the crazy ones.

    1. " the problem is that people are fucking crazy, making death threats and posting his address"

Please do NOT associate what happened on Facebook (the death threats) with what happened in the comments section (one guy posting Cheese's address and being massively criticised for it).

"it's shit like this blog that goads them on, making them feel like they're doing "the right thing". "

Sure. Even though we all condemned the one guy who posted the address. Totally logical.

Also, I would have thought that you knew that Cheese himself disagrees with your statement that a comments section is for people to post their opinion. According to him, a comments section is for people to piss on the author of the article, period. People who have a good opinion of the author and want to express it know that they should go to his Twitter or his Facebook.

  8. Hey guys, check out this post:

    http://www.funnyordie.com/articles/e6ce4dc6e0/my-letter-to-david-wong-senior-editor-at-cracked-com

A dude gets pissed at Wong and the Cracked forums for banning him and his girlfriend because they had the balls to call them out on their bullshit.

Cracked posted unattributed artwork on the new meltdown quick fix. I am tired of seeing them steal art. This is not the first time they have done it. The pigeon image is not attributed to the artist, but all of the photographs are. It would not be difficult for them to photoshop their own pigeon image, but instead they have chosen to illegally make money off of someone else's work. I suggest leaving comments about this image and messaging the people responsible.

The picture is gone now. That's great but I hope next time they just don't do this in the first place.

    3. The picture is gone because its creator contacted Cracked. I received an answering mail from said creator confirming that Cracked had not asked for permission to use the pic, and thanking me for bringing this to his attention.

So I transfer the thanks to you since you're the one who mentioned it in the first place, and... Keep 'em coming if you see any more stolen pics ;) !

  10. Ono, have you snuck back into the comments yet? I know it would be something different than Ono or Space Ghost but still. Also, I miss seeing Space Ghost in the comments.

  11. Not yet. I made 3 different accounts with differing email addresses and every one of them was banned from commenting, messaging, etc. I can still up and downvote, though! And thank you, that's very gratifying.
